cold process essential oil soap

A special edition by HÉRNI person, Ono Mitsuko.

During the interview, you also talked a lot about soap.

We will introduce some parts that we were unable to fully convey, such as the cold process, the benefits of solid soap, and its secrets.

So that's good, that's what it means! It was an eye-opening story.

- When we were preparing to launch Erni, Ono-san suddenly gave me a soap sample during a parfum meeting. When I tried it, I was amazed at how it felt. It seemed to blend seamlessly into Erni's worldview, and I felt it was an essential part of the Erni lineup.

What I do is something that feels natural.
That's why I think it has a great affinity with Elni's innerwear.

- I really felt that way.
I've always been a fan of using bar soap to wash my face, but even with the popularity of organic cosmetics, it seems like there are still surprisingly few people who prefer bar soap.

I may be in the minority, but it is good for the environment in terms of ingredients, manufacturing process, and packaging.

Best of all, this soap helps to balance the skin, helping to keep it in balance whether you have oily or dry skin, and maintaining a natural, healthy skin cycle.

It can also remove makeup. It may be a little pricey for a soap, but considering that it also removes makeup, it's good value for money.

- When you hear that something can remove makeup, you might think that it has strong cleansing power, which means it's very irritating.

If your makeup is made with natural ingredients, the oils in the soap will blend with the makeup and dissolve it.

It thoroughly removes dirt without stripping away too much sebum, allowing you to wash your skin while maintaining moisture.

- Is it because it's cold processed that it has a lot of oil?

Yes, but it seems there aren't many cold process soaps out there yet.
It takes a month to make, and it takes time and effort.

With the typical kiln firing method, heat is applied and the soap is saponified all at once. It is suitable for mass production as it can be completed in a few days. Oils and fragrances are added after the soap base is made. This means that the oils do not dissolve from within.

The cold process method involves mixing the ingredients and using the heat generated by the reaction to mature the product over a period of one month.
Saponification is the process by which soap ingredients (oils and sodium hydroxide) are turned into soap, and this process takes one month.
The ingredients are mixed and placed in a mold, then left for a day, then another 1-2 days to harden while maintaining the temperature, and then the soap is left to mature for about a month until it becomes slightly alkaline and can be used as soap.

The soap contains natural moisturizing ingredient glycerin, which dissolves and releases with every use, leaving your skin feeling moisturized while retaining essential sebum.
HÉRNI soaps also use high-quality vegetable oils as their ingredients. While olive, coconut, and palm oil are the main ingredients, they also contain argan oil, camellia oil, and shea butter, all of which have skin-beautifying properties.

It also contains ghassoul, a natural clay found only in Morocco. Moroccan ghassoul gently cleanses away dirt and dead skin cells while also providing moisture.

And because no heat is applied, the scent of natural essential oils, which tend to evaporate easily, is also trapped inside, so the gentle scent continues until the soap has shrunk and you've finished using it.

- I realized how great it was when I used it, but hearing your story now makes me realize there must be a reason why it's so good.

Yes. I think that if you continue to use it, it will have many benefits for your skin.
